The Dynamic Business of Rehabilitation and Rescue - A Model in VRC
It is interesting how life works to provide unexpected business models. One such business model appeared in a new TV series on Animal Planet located at the Villalobos Rescue Center (VRC) in California. Although Coming Home - Almost There (CHAT) doesn't really have anything in common with the groups represented on the show, CHAT could certainly benefit to observe this program as a point of reference for rehabilitation and as a dynamic business model. See the three points of reference as modeled by VRC detailed below:
- VRC modeled positive results from rescuing animals while simultaneously providing a tough work program for the residents, a good work ethic and a healing process to the residents, enabling them to become successful members of their community. CHAT's proposed theraputic program would work with its residents through much the same way. CHAT would use the services of Colorado ranches and animal shelter programs who work in some very dynamic ways with their animals and with the handicapped community. The goal in mind would be to provide an end result much as the VRC does.
- The resident issues resolution model set by VRC is quite good. It is the intention of CHAT to have a House panel to self-administer the management of a cohesive set of House rules. Basically, if a resident is out of line the panel determines whether or not to give the violating resident a second chance (vote him/her off the island so to speak).
- On the show it clearly demonstrates the the head of VRC works diligently at fund raising in a number of ways with funds management seeming to be an extraordinary effort keeping the business of the ranch going. Fund raising is never easy and will be a part of keeping the business of the CHAT House and Resource center running.
Many thanks to the Villalobos Rescue Center for the excellent business model it provides for the new and upcoming CHAT House and Resource Center .
